Wellness Program Launched at Greenwalt CPAs

Published:

Our firm recently established a Wellness Program for our employees. With this program, we hope to provide employees with health and fitness information and motivation to assist them in becoming healthier and happier people both at work and at home.

Why provide Wellness at Work? Most adults spend more their waking hours at work than anywhere else. Technology further blurs the line between work and personal time; with laptops and cell phones, we are always "on". We want to help our employees reduce stress and maintain a better work/life balance. Additionally, wellness programs have been demonstrated to lower absenteeism and healthcare costs while increasing productivity.

In August, we provided all employees who participant in our health insurance program with a free on-site comprehensive health screening. The objective was to provide employees with an overall snapshot of their health and to detect signs of any possible illness before they become serious. The results were strictly confidential and intended to identify existing health concerns so employees can manage them.

We are in the process of gauging interest in on-site exercise and stretching classes, a walking club at lunch, a healthy recipe club, and on-site Weight Watchers meetings.

It is important to remember that wellness is not just about physical fitness. Other aspects of wellness include spiritual wellness, emotional wellness, social wellness and intellectual wellness. It is important to have balance for optimum individual health.

Employees are the most valuable assets to any company. We hope that by improving wellness, we improve job satisfaction and the overall happiness of our employees.
