Federal Individual Tax Filing Deadline Extended

Published:

As you may have heard, yesterday the IRS announced it is extending the Federal tax due date by one month to May 17, 2021. Per IRS Notice (IR-2021-59), this only extends the Federal individual income tax return and any 2020 tax payment. This does not extend the state income tax return, nor does it extend the 1Q 2021 tax estimates, which are due April 15, 2021. This also does not extend the trust income tax return Form 1041 or the corporate income tax return Form 1120.

Since there is still uncertainty on the state filing conformity and quarterly estimate due date, Greenwalt CPAs would appreciate that our tax compliance clients continue to send in your tax workpapers as we are working under the assumption that April 15th is still the tax deadline. We will continue to monitor and update you on any further filing and due date changes. If you have any questions, please contact your client service partner or manager.
