Manager, Audit and Other Assurance Services

Our Audit and Other Assurance Services Department has an immediate opening for an Audit Manager.

Our Audit and Other Assurance Services Department has an immediate opening for an Audit Manager.  An Audit Manager is the liaison between the partner, the client, and the professional staff.  Managers are responsible for managing multiple assurance projects and client engagements simultaneously, and scheduling and coordinating engagement workflow.  Managers develop and train staff and make business connections to develop new business for the firm. The ideal candidate will have 4-5 years of auditing experience within public accounting.

Responsibilities:

  • Develops and strengthens long-term relationships with senior client management and peer client levels.
  • Plans, organizes and controls multiple client engagements, including supervision of engagement team and review of engagement team work.
  • Advises, coaches and supports team members including providing consistent recognition and encouragement to team members to increase retention and utilization.
  • Manages the assignment budget and profitability on engagements.
  • Anticipates and communicates budget issues, identifies opportunities to improve assignment profitability and prepares client billings and assists in collections.
  • Participates in client meetings including presentations to audit committee and board of directors.
  • Set individual goals that support departmental and firm-wide goals.
  • Participation in firm wide initiatives – recruitment, business development, and retention initiatives.

Qualifications:

Minimum of a Bachelor Degree in Accounting

Active CPA License Preferred

Minimum 4 years of public accounting audit experience

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

Team player with strong interpersonal, communication and project management skills including leading teams of at least 2 team members.

Engagements are performed both in person and remote, depending on individual client preferences.  Currently, about 90% of our engagements are being conducted remotely.  Most clients are located within central Indiana and do not require overnight travel, with the exception of occasional engagements and trainings.  Seasonal overtime is required between January and April, with regular hours generally maintained outside of these months.  Greenwalt CPAs offers a work anywhere model, where employees may choose to work from home or in the office on days not scheduled to work at client offices. 

Senior, Audit and Other Assurance Services

Description:

Our audit department has an immediate opening for an audit senior.  The candidate should be proficient in understanding, researching, interpreting and applying accounting principles and auditing standards.  Additionally, the candidate should have strong written and verbal communication skills that enable effective audit engagement team leadership and facilitate client interactions.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead audits, reviews and compilations from start to finish
  • Meet time constraints and client deadlines
  • Prepare and review financial statements and other required client communications
  • Supervise multiple staff members and review their work
  • Coach, mentor and train staff
  • Build relationships with key client management to ensure excellent client service
  • Set individual goals that support department and firm goals

Requirements:

  • At least two years of public accounting audit experience
  • CPA licensed, or CPA eligible and actively pursuing license
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Strong organizational and time management skills

Hybrid Intern, Spring/Tax Season

Description:

Interns at Greenwalt CPAs get experience working in both the Audit & Other Assurance Department and Tax Department.  Using this “hybrid” internship approach, interns gain valuable experience across a variety of opportunities that public accounting provides, including hands-on experience to determine which department is right for them.  Depending on Firm staffing, spring hybrid interns at Greenwalt CPAs complete approximately 10-15 Audit and Assurance engagements along with 75-200 tax returns.

As an intern at Greenwalt CPAs, you will be provided with opportunities to function similar to our full-time entry-level hires and work on a wide variety of client engagements.  Interns will get the opportunity to work with all levels of GCPA’s personnel, from staff to partners, and client personnel, from bookkeepers to CFO’s.  By working alongside our full-time personnel, you will get exposure into multiple industries and gain technical know-how and soft skills to succeed as a professional.

Generally, Spring/Tax Season internships run from early/mid-January through mid/late-April.  However, internships can be extended to a later date depending on availability and work opportunities.

  • Prepare financial statements and other required client communications
  • Meet assigned budgets and deadlines
  • Learn how to apply accounting and assurance pronouncements to engagements
  • Learn how to conduct research
  • Build relationships with clients to ensure excellent client service
  • Assist staff, seniors, managers and partners with advisory and other projects

Requirements:

  • At the time of your first day, within 2 years of a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with the intent of pursuing a CPA license preferred
  • Strong computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Initiative and problem-solving skills to work individually and within a team to meet deadlines under pressure
  • Close attention to detail
  • Solid technical accounting knowledge, including understanding accounting principles and auditing standards as well as tax law
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
